Evolution & Progress
Commentary by Peter Shepherd

The problem with natural selection as the explanation for the development of all physical organisms, is although it explains progressive changes and improvements, it cannot explain development of those new organs and physical features that would not function at all - indeed would be harmful - if only semi-developed. The ‘evolutionary jump,’ in other words. There has to be a rational evolutionary pathway of progressive changes that would lead to the newly formed bodily function. Otherwise we have to admit the possibility of involvement and intent from some dimension beyond the material life native to Earth. But when it comes down to cultural evolution and the progress we make (or don't make) within our lifetime on Earth, it's down to us.
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” ~ R. Buckminster Fuller
The two essential qualities of conscious evolution... “I believe that all clear-minded people should remain two things throughout their lifetimes: curious and teachable.” ~ Roger Ebert

“Out of limitations comes creativity.” ~ Debbie Allen
Through the creative process you tap into unexplored areas of your subconscious, beyond the reach of societal influence. Since birth, you have been told what to do, and how to do it. But to move forward, original perspectives are needed. As Edward de Bono said, “Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.” Breaking the mold makes evolution and progress possible. We create change by transforming consciousness, our very own evolutionary jump that also affects all around us.
“There is a pattern, a polarity, a diversity, a corollary always to be observed in the working of natural law. Depth and height, sunshine and storm, ignorance and knowledge, war and peace, love and hate, error and truth, weakness and strength, each has its part to play. Evolution cannot work in any other way. In your weakness you will find strength. In your darkness you will find light. In difficulty you will find help. It is still true that the darkest hour always precedes the dawn. This is part of the paradox of all being.” ~ Channeled message
Our solid, physical world - home of the human animal - is based on duality. Our souls (to the best of my knowledge and experience) come from the afterlife dimension where there are levels of consciousness, from a less solid duality rising through to oneness, but we can taste oneness here and now through love.

“Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.” ~ Margaret Mead
Those who care don’t sit back and do nothing. Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Cultural evolution isn’t any chance, it’s created. Darwin pointed out that the civilization of Mankind has passed through four successive stages of evolution: the use of fire, the development of agriculture, the development of urban life and the use of science for technological enhancement. What’s needed next? Hopefully the evolution of consciousness will gather speed.
“Where there is love, do what you will, it will be right action. It will never bring conflict to one’s life. In the flame of love, all fear is consumed.” ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
This is the simple truth - opening the heart - that I feel is the basis of the current rise in human vibration and evolution of consciousness.

The Whole Universe Is Learning and Evolving. How About You? ~ by Charlie Badenhop
This article is a broad perspective look at the topic of evolution, and how it relates to you and me. All of life is intelligent, all of life is learning and evolving, and all of life is adapting to change. It is quite fascinating to think about how the learning that you do is not all that different than the learning of an ecosystem, or a baby bird. Continues...
Evolutionary Monkey Business - by Jean-Claude Koven
Those of us sitting on the sidelines watching the heralded “origin of the species” debate between creationists (God’s team) and evolutionists (Darwin’s theory of natural selection) might be excused if we’ve failed to understand the significance of the large stack of chips each side has in the pot. The ongoing mud slinging and legal wrangling dished out by both sides have obscured their real agendas and turned this otherwise innocuous issue into a major political hot potato. Continues...
Awakening to Evolution - by Andrew Cohen
Individuals at the edge want to catalyze a revolution in consciousness and culture, a revolution that will be able to create dynamic new structures that enable a new future to emerge. I believe such a revolution would have to be based upon the most important scientific, historical, cultural, and spiritual discovery of the last three hundred years: evolution. Continues...
