Clearing the Way

"Could medical problems be related to issues from my past?"

Dear Ayal,

I have skin problems in my genital area. About five years ago I developed seborrhea, a skin disorder related to psoriasis. Several months ago I got a fungal infection, also in my genital area. I believe these medical issues are related to sexual issues from my past. What do you think?

I think you are definitely on the right track. When so many things show up in the same area, that is the body's way of alerting you that an issue is occurring there. The body is trying to get your attention so that you can heal it. If one way doesn't work, then it will try another. Behind every illness or condition there is a read-out, or symbolic meaning. Skin problems relating to seborrhea or psoriasis have to do with issues of anxiety, rejecting your family, feeling threatened, and subconscious programming for failure. You may want to explore if any of these issues relate to what you experienced sexually. It often happens that when we get the meaning and work out the issues behind the condition, the condition itself will disappear. As always, outside support in the form of a counselor or therapist is always a helpful tool to unravel difficult or charged issues in our lives. Good luck with your journey, and best wishes.
