Noam Chomsky - America is not a Democracy
A reality check on how the US as conceived and how it operates and what remains to be done. Chomsky says America is not a democracy, nor was it intended to be. He says it is a polyarchy - a term created by the leading democratic theorist Robert Dahl, but the idea is old, going back to James Madison and the foundation of the constitution. A polyarchy is a system in which resides in the hands of the few who represent the wealth of the nation, the responsible class of men - the primary goal being to protect the interests of the opulent minority against the majority.

Irish documentary film makers Kim Bartley And Donnacha O'briain got behind the scenes of a CIA-organized coup attempt in Venezuela in 2002. Venezuela is the fourth largest exporter of crude oil in the world. 80% of its population lives in poverty. The oil of Venezuela is state owned and was so before Chavez was elected in 1998. Hugo Chavez was a colorful, unpredictable folk hero, beloved by his nation's working class and a tough-as-nails, quixotic opponent to the power structure that would see him deposed. When Chavez announced a plan to distribute the state's oil revenue more equitably, all hell broke loose. The film was distributed in 2003 and is 74 Minutes in Spanish with English subtitles.

How we became slaves to oil

The Power of Nightmares
This is an interesting documentary (in three one-hour episodes) by Adam Curtis about the rise of radical fundamentalism from the BBC TV network in Britain. It was broadcast in 2004. "While the 20th century was dominated between a conflict between a free-market Right and a socialist Left, even though both of those outlooks had their limitations and their problems, at least they believed in something, whereas what we are seeing now is a society that believes in nothing. And a society that believes in nothing is particularly frightened by people who believe in anything, and, therefore, we label those people as fundamentalists or fanatics, and they have much greater purchase in terms of the fear that they instill in society than they truly deserve."

'The Trap' was originally produced for the BBC, in three one-hour episodes. It talks about the modern political realities, where the policies came from and the massive failures of those ideals and how they have ended up exactly where they did not want to be. This episode focuses on the 1990's and how the politicians decided to apply the model of a free market economy to the rest of society, and the consequences of these actions being felt all over the world in western democracies.

Deconstructing The Myth Of AIDS (Gary Null)
In 1984 we were told that HIV was the cause of AIDS. In his provocative documentary film, Gary Null, Ph.D. challenges virtually every statement ever made by the American medical industrial complex on the virus. Mercury in vaccines causes autism

The Drugging of our Children (Gary Null)
In the absence of any objective medical tests to determine who has ADD or ADHD, doctors rely in part on standardized assessments and the impressions of teachers and guardians while their diagnosis leaves little room for other causes or aggravating factors, such as diet, or environment. Hence, diagnosing a child or adolescent with ADD or ADHD is often the outcome, although no organic basis for either disease has yet to be clinically proven. Psychiatrists may then prescribe psychotropic drugs for the children without first without making it clear to parents that these medications can have severe side-effects including insomnia, loss of appetite, headaches, psychotic symptoms and even potentially fatal adverse reactions, such as cardiac arrhythmia. And yet, despite these dangers, many school systems actually work with government agencies to force parents to drug their children, threatening those who refuse with the prospect of having their children taken from the home unless they cooperate.
