Inner Guidance Training
How to Develop Inner Guidance by Devoting a Day
Introduction
It is nearly impossible to develop inner guidance unless we make
time to practise. Normally our mind is filled with what we think
we should do or ought to do rather than what we are being guided
to do. Many people begin to take much more time for themselves once
they learn to practise inner guidance. This happens because we are
often driving ourselves too hard, doing the wrong things at the
wrong time. This causes us to feel burnt out and depressed, instead
of uplifted and inspired. Listening to inner guidance works because
we discover that our intuition shows us how to achieve more in less
time by being a lot more focused and creative. When we are out of
touch with our guidance we easily become distracted and confused.
For Example
Jennifer was a busy housewife with teenage children. Jennifer was
feeling overwhelmed with all the things she needed to achieve each
day. She confided her problems to her friend Amanda, who was able
to coach Jennifer in listening for creative ways of approaching
her daily tasks. Through her relationship with Amanda, and by listening
to her inner guidance, Jennifer realied that she did not need to
taxi her children to swimming lessons and to dance classes. Instead
she gave her two youngest children lessons in riding bicycles safely
and let them use the cycleway to ride their classes. She also paid
for her eldest son to pass the driving test and then asked him to
be responsible for the grocery shopping at her local supermarket.
Jennifer noticed that she now had more time for herself and felt
drawn to use this time to rediscover her love of reading and to
have a weekly coffee afternoon with friends.
An Exercise in Developing Inner Guidance by Devoting a Day
You are invited to spend a day following your inner guidance. Choose
a day to do this and if you wish mark it in your diary. On the chosen
day, from the time you waken until the time you go to sleep, listen
to your inner guidance and follow it. Become aware as you go through
your day, of what you feel or sense is natural and easy. Sense where
your enthusiasm lies and follow it. However do not neglect your
essential duties. If you are struggling to find enthusiasm for your
essential duties exchange your negative feelings of rejection and
distaste for positive feelings of acceptance and love. Notice how
your inner guidance changes the way you address your daily tasks
and how it offers more creative solutions. Allow yourself the opportunity
to follow your interest and enthusiasm as you discover the freedom
your inner guidance offers. Experience this freedom and feel the
joy it brings. By following inner guidance you are learning to express
your true self and lead a devoted life.
