How to Use Inner Guidance to Become Confident
Introduction
Our confidence will increase as we learn to lead a guided life.
We become confident by developing our potential. As our potential
develops, we realise that our guided life is protecting us from
harm. To achieve this we need to see mistakes and errors as opportunities
for learning, rather than disasters that sap our confidence. If
we fail to learn from our mistakes then we will only repeat them
and our confidence will decrease.
For Example
Doreen was an attractive woman who longed to have a steady relationship.
She met an interesting man called Harry while walking in the nearby
park. They went out on a few dates. On the third date Doreen began
to talk at length about men saying that they did not understand
women and that they only cared about their careers. Harry never
called back. Then three months later she met Kevin. On their second
date, while walking along the riverbank, Doreen once again began
to talk about men in derogatory ways. Kevin never called back. Doreen
was becoming more and more convinced that men did not care, so that
when she met Jeff six months later she said the same thing. Jeff
never called back either. Although physically attractive and despite
longing for a relationship, Doreen had lost all confidence when
talking to single men and now finds it nearly impossible to be asked
out on a date.
An Exercise in Using Inner Guidance to Become More Confident
If there is an aspect of your life where you lack confidence and
are struggling to succeed, take time to contemplate your behaviour.
Talk to close friends about how you are behaving in this situation.
Are there changes you feel drawn to make in your behaviour that
might make your efforts more successful. If there are write down
these changes and really work at amending your behaviour. Learning
from mistakes helps you become guided from within. Succeeding in
developing your potential is the only way to become confident.
