For years I've enjoyed being out in nature. We live near the Rocky Mountains and every time I have the opportunity to visit these imposing giants I come away feeling inspired, renewed and invigorated.
For a long time I used to think the mountains create a special energy that is restorative. Well, they do. But then I realized that it was more than that. Sitting beside a mountain lake that's so green it looks like shimmering teal silk and seeing those magnificent snow-capped mountains reflected in its smooth surface is one of the most awe-inspiring experiences I've ever had. And it happens every time I am in the mountains, without fail.
What I finally realized is that this is a spiritual experience for me. There truly is no question in my mind that God is alive and real with such beauty surrounding me. My whole being rejoices and I feel totally loved and at peace. I know God is there.
How wonderful to know God in this way. What joy fills my heart. And the mountains are just one small part of knowing God. You can find God at the sea shore, listening to the breakers roll in or you can find Him in a field of daisies or in the graceful neck of a swan or in the artist's palate of color splashed across a fall landscape.
You can see Him in streams, in a peaceful farmland scene or in the desert cactus. You'll find Him in a brilliant blue sky or in a grain of sand. God is in all of nature just waiting to be discovered. Why not start looking today?
Creator God, when I look upon the beauty of your creation I am in awe. I marvel at the wonders you have made: The soaring mountains, the vibrant blue sky, tiny, perfect brilliant pink flowers, a bright, nattering blue jay, a babbling brook. All these and so much more show me continually that you are indeed a God of love. Your works inspire wonder and delight. Thank you for allowing me to know you more fully through the magic of your world.
