The understanding of oneself is a journey that takes many years of self-contemplation and worldly observation. Without the exposure to one who is advanced on the path, it is a journey that many people may never even become aware of.
I am not a religious person but I do recognise that there have been many great beings who have graced our history. Their central message was never about devotional service or worship of them, but was about YOU discovering the truth about yourself.
It is ironic that these so-called masters gave us a beautiful example to follow and also gave us evolutionary inspiration in the form of words e.g. 'what I can do you can do greater'; yet all we see around us today is the limited mindset of dogmatic regimes trying to capture us with corny slogans such as 'high octane fuel - get a full tank here' and 'Jesus is Lord - worship him here!'
I've met many atheists in my life and I can tell you they are closer to the truth than they know. What they are saying no to is the man-made, religious-inspired, 'image' of god that is pressed to them by their cultural authorities. And on the other hand, the captured worshipers simply 'believe' in this given image. It's easier for them to push the responsibility for their salvation onto the shoulders of a great being (or a guru for that matter) than it is for them to take responsibility for their own soul. Both mindsets are gravely in error, in my opinion of course.
We all have this great faculty that exists between our ears, which allows us to reason and formulate questions. As soon as a sincere question is asked the answer to it is on its way through the ethers - as sure as night follows day - it's how universal energy works. When we accept this process through our own experience of it, we realise there is no need for any kind of intermediary to exist between an individual and their divine connection.
Life itself is the great teacher and likewise when we accept this through our own experience of it, we become more confident in asking ever-greater and greater questions...
Our so-called consumer-driven society is not really being driven by consumers directly but by the clever advertising and marketing strategies (mind-control) coming from the multi-national businesses; the owners of which can be traced all the way back to the very top of the power pyramid. The controlled, daily, media diet keeps consumers buying their products and potentially great minds subdued into 'servitude dressed up in ribbons'.
There is no doubt that following a career can give one a sense of achievement in life, and dependent upon the type of career, a relatively comfortable living in exchange for long hours, assumed responsibility, customer abuse and the inevitable stress to boot! Believe it or not, finding a better way forward is as simple as shifting one's focus.
How would you like to be in this life or who would you like to become? Notice I didn't say, what role would you like to play or what would you like to do in this life? Who is the greatest?
A. The high-flying executive who is a compulsive liar, or
B. The street-merchant who has integrity and everyone trusts
If we are to become a more advanced civilisation, our focus needs to shift away from the image-conscious nature of 'doing' to the super-conscious nature of 'being'. In my opinion, the greatest example of expressing the god within us, is when we live without compromising our personal truth and we give of ourselves without ulterior motives or conditions. I have recently proven to myself that it is possible to focus on being the kind of person I want to be, and by virtue of that intent, attract to myself opportunities that are consistent with how I want to be. A win-win situation!

Gary Bates has written three thought-provoking books that serve to unchain a person's mind from genetic and social conditioning. The ideas discussed in the books can help people to improve all aspects of their lives from love and relationships to job prospects, health and wealth. He says: "All of the books are designed to move people to adopt a more objective state of mind so they can see the bigger picture for themselves. It's all about knowing, understanding and advancing your consciousness. I've decided to make all three of my ebooks freely available indefinitely. I realized it was more important for the information to be freely available than to wait for people to part with a fiver!" More details here: What Stress.com

Daring to be Yourself
The aim of the new book, Daring to be Yourself by Peter Shepherd, is to help you achieve a 'wide-awake' state of consciousness, with integrated use of left and right brain abilities, forming the bedrock for breakthroughs in personal consciousness and spiritual insight. The practice is based on the premise that we have learned disabilities that set boundaries to our action and knowing. But no one need accept that they must remain as they were shaped by their hereditary body-mind and by the conditioning of their childhood and culture.

This 264-page eBook for Kindle (or the free Kindle Reader application for all platforms) is like a "best of" the Trans4mind site, all brought together for your convenience. But much more than that, it's also an incredibly powerful program for personal growth. Remove the barriers to self-knowledge and reveal your full potential with this step-by-step approach... "I realize many people use praise in ways that sound frivolous...but I must tell you that your book has changed my life AND I mean that in all ways. I found the entire work wonderfully upbeat, readable and valuable! It really was quite a wakeup call. In the midst of my "trials and tribulations" I had failed to be "me." Anyway, this "talk with you" really did change my life. Thank you! I needed this kind of "kick in the pants." It worked. WOW! You made a huge difference in my world."–Becky, USA
